Improvement 21: Develop opportunities for people who have an aquired brain injury to return to meaningful employment

Momentum North East offers specialist training and support for people who have an acquired brain injury, perhaps through a stroke, an accident or an assault, and who would like to regain their independence and return to employment, training or education.

Finding suitable employment is the greatest challenge for people using Momentum’s services as the effects of a brain injury can be permanent, preventing a return to their original workplace

The group’s proposed solution is to develop links between Momentum North East and public agencies to provide voluntary job placements. Public agencies are the largest employers in this region, offering a wide range of roles in safe working environments with robust disability policies. As well as enhancing the lives of individuals, and their families and carers, the public sector can gain resources at no financial cost and help to reduce benefit dependency.
