Improvement 10: Improve public transport by bus

Progress Update

Action from the Feedback Event held on 22/03/10:

·        Gordon Harrison from Nexus will feedback the questions and suggestions put forward by the group to the bus providers

·        As part of the city-wide Nexus consultation on local bus links, Gordon Harrison has met the group following the event to record their ideas formally

·        Two members of The Friday Afternoon Group have joined the Elders Council following the event and they will now be part of the Transport Sub-group to champion their improvement further

·        At the Nexus Question Time Event held in June 2010 at the Centre for Life, members of The Friday Afternoon Group publicly asked their question about extending Sunday bus services. Nexus agreed it was an issue and they have now set targets relating to the number of passengers using bus services on a Sunday that once hit will provide a case to review their services.

·        Following information given on the Bridge Card at the Feedback Event, members of The Friday Afternoon Group have shared this with two groups in the east end of Newcastle and arranged for Gordon Harrison to visit these groups
