Improvement 04: Develop more culturally appropriate activities for older women

 Event audience comments

  • Getting more involved in other activities that happen to link with different groups
  • People from other cultures are invited to community groups but don't come
  • Could work with Group 2
  • There shouldn't be segregated meetings. Everyone should be welcome at all meetings regardless of religion, role or creed.
  • Note: I disagree with this comment, it is important that people can get together and feel comfortable in their own language
  • More facilities for older ladies
  • Important to respect all cultures. Only 1 race - human race
  • More things for older women
  • Interest needs to be increased not just for 60 - 80 year olds but for slightly younger. Include mixing of cultures
  • We think other women from other cultures have lots to offer us and we them
  • Opportunity to link with women from other cultures
  • Need help to gain funds
  • More activities for older people. As we get older we feel more insecure and isolated, so activities have a social and health impact
  • Multi - Cultural workforce
  • More cross culture activities needed - Community Development Workers have a role to play
  • Pity that we are obliged to segregate ourselves
  • Intergenerational work
  • Interesting to know speaker learned things about own culture
  • Link in with being a city of culture
  • Link in with Elders Council
  • Link into existing friendship groups etc
  • Our dialect is being lost too
  • Nice for women to do this
  • Do not assume that all old ladies want to do old-fashioned things!
  • Mixed workers - language barriers
  • All welcome to our group
