Improvement 05: Suitable activities for adults with learning disabilities especially in the holidays

The Welcome Project for adults with learning disabilities meets each week at Cornerstone, a community organisation in Benwell. They take part in activities such as art sessions, drama and healthy eating.

The group decided that their proposed improvement would be to have more suitable activities for adults with learning disabilities available during the holidays when the colleges they attend are closed. The group would like opportunities to enjoy activities in small groups at local venues where they can feel safe, enjoy learning and have fun.

A short film of the group was produced for the Newcastle Citizens Assembly Event. It includes interviews with members of the group and shows them creating artwork which captured their concerns and feelings in relation to their proposed improvement.
