Improvement 05: Suitable activities for adults with learning disabilities especially in the holidays
Progress Update
At the Feedback Event on 22/03/10 the group met with Bill Norman, Newcastle City Council’s Valuing People Coordinator and agreed:
1.
- More activities all year round for adults with learning disabilities
- Basic skills
- Socialising

- Funding
- Human resources
- Networking with other organisations
- Buddying scheme
3.
- Production of directory of activities – link into this process
- Partnership working with Learning Disabilities Partnership - series of separate meetings
- Use the DVD that was made to help train staff when they work with adults with learning disabilities if appropriate
4.
- The group will meet with Learning Disabilities Champions – Your Voice Counts - and look at ways to look at issues
- The directory of activities for learning disabled adults will be updated
A city-wide lead on these issues needs to be appointed
