Improvement 29: Improve and extend services at weekends for vulnerable adults
Greater Walker Community Trust is based in Monkchester Community Centre. They provide a wide range of activities and support services for adults, aged between 40 and 90+. In common with most community centres across the city, they are only able to open on weekdays due to funding pressures.
They asked people who come into Monkchester Community Centre what would most improve their lives. The majority of the people they asked said things to do and be involved in at the weekend.
Their improvement has three parts. People would like more community services, including Monkchester, to be open at weekends; they want more information about what services are open and accessible at weekends; and some people want and need support to take part in what goes on in the city at the weekend.
